School Meals

The Warrington School Meals catering service provides your child with healthy, filling and nutritional meals every school day.

Penketh Primary Academy recognises that eating in school should be a pleasurable experience which helps children to develop health eating habits. A child's lunch must provide them with the energy and nutrients they need to get the most from their school day.

Packed Lunch

If you opt to provide a packed lunch for your child, we do encourage you to make healthy choices when preparing this.

As a general principle, we promote healthy, balanced packed lunches. They should consist of:

  • Fruit and vegetables
  • Unrefined starchy food - i.e. bread, pasta or rice
  • Protein - i.e. meat, fish, eggs or beans
  • Milk or other dairy - i.e. cheese, yoghurt etc.
  • A small amount of fat, sugar, and salt
  • Water, milk or juice

Also, please be mindful of the materials in your child's lunch box. Try to limit the amount of single use plastic and talk to your child about recyclable materials and what they should return home with - i.e. drink bottles and containers.

School Lunch

School meals are priced at just £2.60 per day. We operate a cashless system and payment for meals and snacks should be made via ParentPay. Details of how to register and activate your account are available by contacting the school office.

School Meals Menu 2023-24

Our school menu runs on a 3-week cycle to provide a variety of meals. Use the link above to access full details of the current menu.

If you would like a paper copy of any information that is published on our website, please contact the school office, where this will be provided free of charge.

Quality of school lunches

As part of the school lunch, pupils will receive a two course meal with a drink. This will include a protein item accompanied with potatoes, rice or pasta and fresh vegetables, a dessert and a drink.

All food and drinks served in Warrington schools meet the government's standards for school food. Food is prepared on site using fresh ingredients. We do not transport food from one school to another (unless an emergency situation arises).

60% of the fruit and vegetables that we prepare and serve are grown locally (50 miles radius of Warrington).

Our recipes are high in fibre but low in fat, sugar and salt and only branded products are used.

Special dietary needs

Vegetarian, multi-cultural and special dietary items are included in our menu plans.

If you have any specific concerns or requests, these can be dealt with by contacting the school meals catering service on 01925 443322.
