Welcome to Year 2's Class Page!
Each half-term, this class page will be updated with information regarding our learning in school.


In English this half-term we will begin by using 'The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark' by Jill Tomlinson to inspire our writing. We will learn to use commas, adverbs and other new writing features to produce non-chronological reports about owls!

We will then explore the poem 'The Owl and the Pussycat' by Edward Lear and we will create our own poems!

In Maths, we will continue to use Maths No Problem and White Rose Maths to structure our progress. This half-term, we will focus on multiplication and division before moving onto mass and volume.

Phonics / Spelling

We will continue to recap Phase 5 phonemes this half-term with the aim of securing our knowledge ahead of our Phonics Screening Checks.

Children will also take part in spelling and grammar lessons, learning new Y2 rules.

Year 2 will work with Miss Evans to answer the question 'Why do Christians say Jesus is the light of the world?'.



In Science this half-term, we will learn all about animals including humans Through this unit, we will explore the life cycles of humans and animals, identify what we need to survive and examine how we can lead healthy lives.

In PE, we will take part in a variety of ball games to develop our understanding of how we can use our bodies and equipment to control different sized balls.



We will use Charanga to work through their 'Ho, Ho, Ho' unit and we will also use the musical instruments that we created last half-term to explore rhythm and sound.



Year 2 will be exploring the relationships we have and we will think about the ways in which we can extend the hand of friendship to those less fortunate than us this Christmas time.
